Mauricio Pochettino gets blunt warning as Frank Lampard turns on Todd Boehly

Chelsea's nightmare season slumped to a new low on Tuesday night courtesy of a humbling London derby defeat at the hands of Arsenal.

After going in at the break trailing by three goals, Noni Mudueke managed to reduce the arrears for the Blues on the hour mark. But Frank Lampard 's beleaguered side never looked capable of mounting a fightback and succumbed to a sixth successive loss.

Unsurprisingly, the fallout of Tuesday night's match has overshadowed the club's ongoing search for a new head coach. Although Mauricio Pochettino is seemingly primed for the role, no agreement has been reached yet with Todd Boehly and the Blues hierarchy, who have come in for some fierce criticism this week.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest news from Stamford Bridge...

Blunt Pochettino warning

Former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has warned Blues' prospective head coach Mauricio Pochettino that he could be undermined by his bloated squad if he agrees terms with Todd Boehly.

Petit was in attendance at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night and witnessed first-hand how divided the current Chelsea team are as tempers began to rise on the pitch.

Pochettino has been tipped to succeed Frank Lampard at the end of the season. And the highly-rated Argentine has been warned by Petit that Chelsea's bloated, unhappy dressing room could prove to be a challenge that "20 managers" would be unable to solve.

After losing a sixth straight match since returning to the Chelsea hot seat, caretaker manager Frank Lampard insisted that the Blues hierarchy are to blame for the current issues at the club.

Despite spending over £600million on transfers since acquiring the Londoners, Todd Boehly and co have seen Chelsea lurch from one crisis to another this term. After sacking Thomas Tuchel and his successor, Graham Potter, the Blues are currently languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table without a permanent boss.

And while Lampard has taken the brunt of criticism following recent results, the caretaker boss has insisted that the problems behind the scenes have had a hugely detrimental impact on the club.

Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has given beleaguered co-owner Todd Boehly a major boost by insisting that the Blues could still win the Premier League title next year.

The Londoners are languishing in the bottom half of the league following a wretched run of results under Lampard, who has lost every single game since returning to the helm.

However, Fabregas believes that Chelsea possesses so much talent within their enormous squad that they are capable of recovering from their nightmare campaign quickly. And the Spaniard even believes that, if the correct recruitment decisions are made under an astute head coach, Chelsea should not be counted out of next year's title race.
