Harvey Elliott has sarcastically sent his best wishes to Jurgen Klopp after the Reds boss injured his hamstring in Liverpool's dramatic 4-3 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

The 55-year-old sprinted down the touchline to berate fourth official John Brooks after Diogo Jota scored a late winner at Anfield. However, Klopp was unhappy that Spurs were awarded a free-kick leading to their equaliser when Richarlison headed home - a matter of moments before Jota's strike.

It capped off a dramatic few minutes on Merseyside and Klopp could not contain his frustration with the officials with an angry outburst after the game. But Klopp appeared to pull his hamstring when complaining at Brooks over Paul Tierney's decision to award Spurs a free-kick.

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott admitted he shared the same emotion as Klopp when he ran and berated Brooks. The 20-year-old also jokingly said that Klopp is in the squad's "prayers" after he picked up an injury while celebrating on the touchline.

“We're still waiting for the news on that (Klopp's injury)," he said, via GOAL. "Touch wood he is all OK. I think we all celebrated the goal in the same way so hopefully he hasn't done too much damage. He'll be in our prayers.

"It's just the emotion of the game, to throw away the lead and then score in the last 30 seconds is a wonderful feeling. Touch wood he is OK and can get the recovery he needs!"

Klopp could be in hot water with the PGMOL after he slammed Tierney in his post-match press conference. The German was far from pleased with the referee's performance at Anfield.

He told Sky Sports: "It was very emotional of course. Especially the situation before their third goal. How he (Tierney) can whistle a foul against Mo Salah up front when nobody… the linesman is there and keeps the flag down and then the ref whistles that.

"The next situation wouldn't have happened if we had kept the ball there. Free-kick and then the ball is in [our net], that’s not cool. We have our story, our history with Mr Tierney.

"I really don't know what this man has with us. I really don't know. He will always say there’s nothing - and it's not true, it cannot be. I have to say. It cannot be, I don't understand it. I’m really not sure if it's me because he looks at me.. I don't understand it.

"I really have no problem with any people - and with him as well - but it's just like 'Again?!' He was the ref at Tottenham (earlier in the season) when Harry Kane didn't get a red card."

Following Klopp's comments, PGMOL said in a statement: "PGMOL is aware of the comments made by Jürgen Klopp after his side's fixture with Tottenham Hotspur.

"Match officials in the Premier League are recorded in all games via a communications system and having fully reviewed the audio of referee Paul Tierney from today’s fixture, we can confirm he acted in a professional manner throughout including when issuing the caution to the Liverpool manager so, therefore, we strongly refute any suggestion that Tierney's actions were improper."
