Kane drops hint over talks with Levy amid Tottenham transfer uncertainty

Harry Kane has confirmed he plans to hold talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy before the end of the campaign with his club future in the spotlight.

Kane, 29, is on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag’s target list this summer as he is on red alert to sign a central striker at Old Trafford. The Spurs frontman will be on the market, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2024 and is likely to be in high demand.

The England captain had already revealed he had an "honest" talk with club chairman Levy following Spurs' 6-1 thrashing against Newcastle. That preceded Ryan Mason becoming the club’s third head coach this season after Antonio Conte and Cristian Stellini were axed in consecutive months.

However, Kane has now outlined how further talks are in the pipeline with Levy as he looks to voice concerns that are shared by the playing squad over the club’s direction. Spurs are currently on course to miss out on a top four finish amid another trophyless campaign.

“It was just to understand the situation and what can give us the best opportunity to finish the season in a strong way,” Kane told Sky Sports of the original talks. “As a club, there's been some stuff going on that if we want to improve we have to be open and honest about.

“Those conversations are probably more for toward the end of the season, as a leadership group, with the chairman and the coach.”

Kane then added, hinting at further talks: “I feel like those conversations will happen toward the end about how we can improve. Ultimately, there was another conversation about how we can finish the season in a strong way.

“It was just open and honest and we expressed how we felt and ultimately we are where we are now. We can't talk too much and the only way we can show it is on the pitch and we have five games to do that.”

Kane was then pressed on how he felt the club needed to improve. “They are conversations that need to be had toward the end of the season,” he continued.

“I feel like we lost a bit of what the values are at this club over the last few years. It's about finding a way to get back on the same page again and obviously even with the fans as well.

“The fans were great on Thursday, getting behind us and being with us and Ryan and having that relationship. I'm not going to express it all here but there are conversations that we're open to having because ultimately we all want to improve and get better. That goes from the top right through the club and that's our aim.”
