Prince William and Kate displayed three changes in their body language during their visit to Birmingham, an expert has claimed.

The Prince and Princess of Wales made a trip to the city last week to celebrate its diverse culture by meeting future leaders in the arts and creative industries.

The couple greeted crowds during their first public appearance since it was revealed that Harry will be attending the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla next month.

Jesús Enrique Rosas, known as the Body Language Guy, picked up on a few changes as he studied the pair's movements and interactions with each other.

One of these included William placing his hand around Kate's waist in a "relaxed and confident" gesture.

Speaking on his Royal Rogue YouTube channel, he said: "The first one stands out just because an extremely rare public display of affection, in the form of William’s hand on Kate’s waist.

"It's not that he's not done it in other times, but in the few instances that the camera angle has helped to spot this gesture, it's more a gesture of reassurance, which in fact is not with his full hand but more with the tip of his fingers."

The second new body language signal that Jesús noticed was "the way Kate exposed her neck while turning to William and smiling at him".

He continued: "It's a gesture that has more than couple meanings such as: she feels comfortable with him, she feels protected and of course, she likes him a lot.

"And something that would be extremely easy to miss is that Kate's eyes are directed to William's mouth."

Jesús added: "It's common for Kate to look into William's eyes., of course, but it’s also fairly common to catch her looking at his mouth."

He said that this is "another signal of attraction" between the couple.

The expert then moved on to a video of William and Kate laughing inside a restaurant as the Prince took a phone call from a surprised customer.

He said: "The energy is just so there for everyone to see.

"Again, it's like William feels much more relaxed, Kate has her bright smile, and I cannot help but think that they really needed that Easter time off."

Body language expert Darren Stanton also weighed in on the light-hearted moment, saying that it showed Kate had "no anxiety".

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Bingo, he commented: "It’s a fantastic piece of footage that again demonstrates Kate and William’s ability to muck in and be one of the people.

"William is displaying open body language, there were no signs of a lack of confidence, no hand to face or mouth gestures, facially we saw genuine happiness and joy.

"William was genuinely having a laugh, he wasn’t embarrassed at all, there were no signs of anxiety. Kate was looking on as if she was managing William, again very open body language.

"She adopted an open posture and microexpressions of happiness. We always see consistent behaviour from her, what you see is what you get.

"Overall, the footage demonstrates the future of the monarchy where Prince William and Kate want to be seen as very accessible by the public.

"The pair have clearly got a great sense of humour and it’s kudos to when they eventually do become King and Queen."

William and Kate's visit, which is part of a plan to visit different parts of the country before the Coronation, saw them try out their competitive Indian cooking skills by making rotis.

They then hosted designers, artists and playwrights at The Rectory, a pub in the historic Jewellery Quarter.

The couple discussed how the sector is growing and their guests' experiences of opening and running a business in the city.

The Prince and Princess of Wales later joined guests for a game of interactive darts downstairs in the 180 Club before greeting members of the public outside.
