Wrexham have been confirmed as National League champions after overcoming Notts County in a titanic title tussle; and bet365 are already looking towards their forthcoming League Two campaign.

This season’s script has followed the Hollywood narrative, led by millionaire movie stars turned club owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The £2.5million fee they paid for the club back in 2021 is looking like a shrewd investment following Saturday’s promotion party.

Reynolds and McElhenney will already have eyes on a sequel to the 2022/23 promotion winning campaign, with League Two the set for what could be another blockbuster season.

The side will become Wales’ fourth representative in the English Football League next season upon their return, following their relegation to the National Leagues in 2008.

bet365 are 7/2 about them being crowned 2023/24 champions, 5/6 that they make it back-to-back promotions and 6/4 they finish in the Top 3.

Given the investment that is expected at the Racecourse Ground, bet365 are offering 50/1 for an unlikely return to the National League.

bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “Stockport attracted plenty of support for the League Two title after winning the National League last season, but we’re expecting Wrexham to take it to another level this time round.”

After breaking the points tally set by Crawley Town in the 2010/11 season (105), Wrexham’s 110 points has coincided with setting the record for the most league victories in a single campaign with 34 wins in the National League.

They have also matched the fewest league losses record with three defeats, but have their final head-to-head with Notts County as they remain in the hunt for the most goals scored in a National League campaign. County currently have the edge with 116 goals, with Wrexham on 115.

Freeth added: “We’ve already seen them ruffle a few feathers in the FA Cup during the current campaign and you can see that being turned up a notch or two as the famous ownership travel around the basement watching their investment.

“You don’t see them wanting to hang around either, and while money doesn’t always bring instant success at this level, ask Salford about that, we’re just trying to be on the right side of an expected plunge because there are bound to be a number of new faces added to an already impressive squad at the Racecourse Ground.”
