Big-hearted lotto winners helped relaunch a hair cutting service for homeless people.

One of these was full-time hairdresser, Richard Davies who won £1million on the Euromillions in 2018 with wife Faye.

Richard, from Talgarth, South Wales, rescheduled his usual clients to ensure he could come along.

He said: “The look on our guests’ faces when they saw their new haircut, and the extra spring in their step as they walked away, will stay with me for a long time.”

Haircuts4Homeless was established by Stewart Roberts MBE, in 2014 and since then has opened more than 70 projects across the UK and Ireland, recruited 600 volunteers and given more than 50,000 free haircuts.

Volunteer hairdressers, alongside professionals, were put to work at The Huggard Centre, Cardiff.

The service was put on hold in Wales due to the pandemic.

Geraldine Bradley, from Carmarthen, who with husband Chris, continued to run her hair salon following his family’s £3.5m National Lottery win in 2006, also took part.

She said: “We have been humbled by the work of The Huggard Centre and Haircuts4Homeless, and the team’s ability to provide support for those experiencing homelessness.”

Stewart added: “It’s really important to make it clear that our service is back in Wales.”
