Eddie Hearn predicts Anthony Joshua would "box the ears off" Deontay Wilder in a potential clash between the two former champions.

Joshua, 33, could meet fellow knockout artist Wilder, 37, in an illustrious Saudi Arabia fight card which would be co-headlined by Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk at the end of the year. Matchroom Boxing boss Hearn, who promotes Joshua, has scoffed at critics who have advised Joshua to avoid a fight against 'The Bronze Bomber' as he thinks the Brit should be a betting favourite in the potential clash.

"Joshua has boxed everybody that he’s been asked to box and now it’s a fight to avoid against Deontay Wilder? If you think ‘AJ’ is an underdog in that fight, in my opinion, you’re mad. “It’s just one of the greatest fights in boxing, so let’s roll the dice and see AJ put it on the line in a massive fight," Hearn told ESBR Boxing.

"Do you want to see the most exciting fights? Because they come with a lot of risk. AJ will box his ears off, but if he gets caught – like anyone else in the division – he could get stopped in that fight. Wilder is very dangerous but if he hits Wilder on the chin, he’s knocking him clean out.

"It's just one of the greatest fights in boxing, but boxing is just a mad world where it's like 'That's the one to avoid'. The biggest and most exciting fights come with a lot of risk, so let's roll the dice and see AJ put it on the line in a massive fight."

Joshua earned his first win in over two years by beating Jermaine Franklin on points earlier this month whilst Wilder hasn't fought since knocking out Robert Helenius in one round last October. Wilder's coach Malik Scott admitted that Joshua is the only opponent he wants 'The Bronze Bomber' to face at the minute as he thinks the fight is "good for mankind".

“That fight is the only fight I want for Deontay," Scott told iFL TV. " I think it’d be good, not just for boxing, but for mankind. It’d be a real tragedy if this fight doesn’t happen. If we could get Usyk, of course because he’s got the belts, but I’m very big on Deontay fighting Joshua. I believe that it’s good, not just for boxing but for so many reasons. It’s a treat to society and to culture!”
