When you're cleaning your kitchen, it's easy to forget about your greasy oven trays.

One of the most-used utensils, they've often left out of sight and out of mind when you're washing up.

But it's important to clean them regularly as grease and grime quickly build up. Even if you remember to put them at the top of your list of chores, they're not always easy to tackle, though.

Thankfully, a genius mum may have just found the best solution, as she's worked out how to leave her trays sparkling without needing to scrub away.

Instead, she soaks her oven trays in boiling water - and adds a common kitchen item.

As the parent revealed in a post to the Mums Who Clean Facebook page, dishwasher tablets can make all the difference.

According to the Daily Mail, the mum wrote: '"Just a tip. Soak your oven trays with a couple of cheap dishwasher tablets. For around 20 minutes.

'I get mine from Aldi. Pour kettle boiling water until the tray is full and scrub gently.'

Although it's not known which brand's tablets the mum used, Magnum Classic Dishwasher Tablets 50 pack are available to buy from Aldi for £2.49, so the hack works out as little as 10p per clean if you use two tablets.

Amazed by the bargain trick, commenters were quick to thank the mum for her advice. Meanwhile, several revealed they'd also seen success with this approach.

"I do this too and it works a treat," read one such reply. Another agreed: "I did it with my son's racks that were almost completely black. It worked a treat!"

Someone else commented: "When I finish using the oven, I turn it off and put the trays with water and a dishwashing tablet in the oven while it cools down. Remove and rinse in the morning."
