USA four-time Olympic gold medal gymnast Simone Biles has confirmed that she has married Houston Texans safety Jonathan Owens.

The pair have been dating since March 2020 having met on a dating app and announced their engagement just over a year ago. “I do,” Biles told her fans on Instagram on Saturday, “Officially Owens”.

A series of wedding pictures of the smitten couple accompanied the heartwarming post, with followers rushing to the comments section to congratulate the Olympic US sweetheart and her NFL hubby. “Wifey got a great ring to it,” Owens replied to his wife’s post. “First day of forever."

The 26-year-old wore an elegant, full-length white-layered dress with minimal jewellery and her hair in a ponytail, while Texans safety Owens looked smart in a beige suit with a white dress shirt and white loafers in the intimate Texas-based ceremony.

Biles and Owens looked blissful as they held hands in some snaps, and kissed in others in front of the judge who performed their wedding.

A smooth first year of marriage could help catapult Biles to more gold medals and American Olympic history. Ahead of the Paris 2024 games, her seven Olympic medals have her tied with Shannon Miller for the most won by an American gymnast.

Biles was the flagbearer for the USA in Tokyo in 2020 but only managed to win a bronze medal on the balance beam. In 2022, Biles was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden.

Owens, meanwhile, will be hoping for a productive 2023 season with the Texans, the fifth with the NFL franchise. He originally signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2018 before moving to Houston early in the 2019 season.

Owens finished 2022 as the second leading tackler on the team with 125 stops in his first season as a starter and is expected to improve those numbers. Owens and Jalen Pitre made a combined 272 tackles, which will also need to be improved if the Texans are to go far.
