Arsenal host Southampton on Friday in a top vs bottom clash with potentially massive ramifications for the future of both clubs.

Mikel Arteta’s side can go seven points clear of Manchester City, who will have two games in hand until they fulfil their Saturday fixture, while basement boys Southampton need every point they can get in their fight for survival.

The Saints have gone winless in their last six games, with the Gunners' form in the Premier League also dipping in recent weeks. Here, Mirror Football brings you all you need to know ahead of a crucial clash at the Emirates Stadium.

When is Arsenal vs Southampton?

Arsenal's clash with Southampton will kick off at 8pm on Friday 21 April at the Emirates Stadium.

The reverse fixture came in October, with Arsenal being held to a 1-1 draw at St Mary's. Granit Xhaka had given the Gunners an early lead, but Stuart Armstrong finished off a flowing team move to equalise with 15 minutes remaining.

Team news

Oleksandr Zinchenko is again a doubt for Arsenal, with the Ukranian international nursing a groin injury. William Saliba has been ruled out with a back issue, which is taking longer than expected to heal.

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny remain long-term absentees for Mikel Arteta. Meanwhile, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is unavailable for Southampton as he is on loan from the Gunners.

Mislav Orsic may be back in contention, but Che Adams, Mohammed Salisu and Juan Larios are all still sidelined. Friday's game may also come too soon for Tino Livramento, who is still recovering form the ACL rupture he suffered in a draw against Brighton in April 2022.
