Manchester United are gearing up for the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla on Thursday.

Erik ten Hag’s side face a difficult task in Spain after conceding two late own goals in the first leg at Old Trafford last week to draw 2-2. It is a crucial period of the season for United, who then face Brighton in an FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

It is not a good time for injuries to strike, but that is exactly what has happened, with Lisandro Martinez adding to the long list of absentees. United did manage to come through their Premier League game on the weekend, beating Nottingham Forest 2-0, but they still need some more results to make sure of a top-four finish.

Meanwhile, the takeover process continues to rumble on, reaching 148 days since the Glazers announced their decision to look for outside investment. Here are the latest Manchester United headlines from Mirror Football .

Jassim still ‘confident’ of takeover

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani remains convinced that he will win the race to buy United from the Glazer family, despite recent reports.

A recent report from ESPN has claimed that the Glazers want to stay as owners because they believe United could be worth at least £10billion ($12.4bn) in 10 years.

Nevertheless, the Guardian says that Sheikh Jassim is confident his bid to buy United outright will be accepted. The Qatari businessman revealed back in February he intends to make a "completely debt free" purchase.

Louis Saha believes that Brighton midfielders Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo would make fantastic signings this summer for Manchester United.

The former United striker said they will "provide a lot of guarantees" for manager Erik ten Hag should they join because they are already Premier League ready.

"I think Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo are good players, I'm a big fan of Caicedo in particular," Saha told DAZN. "They are the type of players Man Utd may look for because they are aggressive, intelligent and good on the ball. They provide a lot of guarantees."

David de Gea has revealed his ‘love’ for Casemiro after being called a “d*******” in an affectionate way by the Brazilian midfielder.

De Gea took to Instagram to share a message from his Brazilian teammate left in the Man United dressing room over the weekend.

He showed one of his autograph cards seemingly vandalised by Casemiro with the message: "I love you d******d,” in Spanish. De Gea responded by captioning his story: “Love you too bro,” with a heart and laughing emoji.
