A three-bed home once stuck in a 1950s 'timewarp' has been put on the market by a loving family after being given a dramatic makeover.

The property on leafy Grindell Road in Redfield, Bristol has now been listed by Boardwalk Property Co for £400,000 as the couple prepare to wave goodbye to their first home and move onto pastures new.

It has nearly doubled in value since they bought it for £202,000 back in 2017, and new photographs reveal the scale of the transformation that has taken in the home over the last few years.

In the spacious living room a mid-century fireplace has been replaced by a log-burner, with traditional wallpaper stripped out for pastel pink painted walls.

Old furniture and a patterned rug from the charming property, which has been described by the owners as 'the sweetest 1950s timewarp', has made way for more modern pieces, pictures from Bristol Live show.

The kitchen - which is located to the back of the house and overlooks the garden - has been completely redesigned, as a standalone cooker and vintage cabinet disappeared in favour of a complete set including worktops, a sink and multiple drawers.

A modern grey-and-pink bathroom with freestanding bath has replaced the rather eccentric lime green iteration that came before it, with a separate shower now also included.

The children's bedroom now has loads of light and room to play in contrast the more austere design of old, and the garden has been tidied up and fitted with a new patio space.

A popular area that attracts young families and professionals, Grindell Road in Bristol has been described as being a quiet spot close to the city's Netham Park.

The family’s favourite nearby spots were "Nightingale Valley for spring walks, Cobham River for summer swimming and cosy pints at the Dark Horse and of course, coffee and treats from The Bristol Loaf".

Reflecting on their time there, the owners said: “Grindell Road was the first house we bought and we poured our hearts into it.”

They said the home was perfect for their children as there was a garden, as well as good schools nearby. It is a short drive away from junction 2 of the M32, and the popular Bristol to Bath cycle path is also nearby.

The local Lawrence Hill Station is not far from Bristol Temple Meads, which can alternatively be reached by car or cycle.
