An amused individual has shared a note left by their neighbour who'd found themselves in a sticky spot after their car broke down right before the road was about to be resurfaced.
In the note, the fed-up motorist - who clearly wasn't having the best day - explained that their vehicle had broken down and that they'd lost the key, leaving them unable to move it.
Unfortunately for them, the council was due to resurface that very same patch of road, meaning their breakdown had taken place in a rather inconvenient spot. In the apologetic note, they added that they hoped workers could "still proceed work".

The note, which has been fastened to the motorist's windscreen, reads as follows: "My car has broken down and I can't find the keys. Hopefully, you can still proceed work. Sorry for the inconvenience."

A number of fellow Reddit users didn't think much of what they regarded as the driver's "excuse", which some felt had strong "Basil Fawlty vibes".

Another commented: "As a teacher once said to me, 'I sympathise, this is bad luck. But it is not my bad luck, it is yours'. Tow the vehicle and charge the owner."
Others weren't so sure that the council would simply work around the car, remarking that a towing would be much more likely.
A third noted: "This feels like the beginnings of a local paper compo face story, with the owner standing in front of the car, holding the towing bill."
A fourth individual wisecracked: "Few days time on LegaladviceUK 'Council moved my car without permission, what compensation am I looking at?'."
