Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are thought to have a "very tense" relationship with the Royal Family, despite the Duke of Sussex confirming he will be at King Charles' Coronation.

A source has claimed there is "a lack of trust" amongst the royals following the release of Harry's debut memoir Spare.

In the book, the 38-year-old described his step-mother Queen Camilla as "dangerous" and detailed an alleged physical confrontation with his brother Prince William.

Harry also discussed his very public childhood, his teenage struggles with drugs and how he lost his virginity to an older woman in a field.

"Relationships between Harry and Meghan and the family are still very tense," a source explained.

"The family will be cordial because the King wants his son at his Coronation but there will be no meaningful conversation as there's still a lack of trust given the revelations in his book and the Sussexes Netflix documentary," they told Entertainment Tonight.

Another insider told the publication there were several royals who "expressed surprised" that Meghan had decided to stay at home in California.

The Duchess of Sussex will not be attending the Coronation and will instead stay with her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

It's been reported that Harry and William have no plans to bury the hatchet during the Coronation.

The Duke of Sussex had a heart-to-heart talk with Charles and wanted to show "support for his father" by attending the historic event.

Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty Magazine, told The Sun : "Out of politeness you'd think Harry would want to mingle with his family no matter how difficult that might be for him.

"They all have really tight schedules but it would be nice to stick around and be friendly."

She added: "I'm glad he has spoken to his father, which has eased the path to rapprochement. Charles will welcome his son. I think his relationship with William is for another time."
