Arsenal fan Piers Morgan aimed another dig Tottenham's way after their woeful defeat at the hands of Bournemouth on Saturday.

The North London side had a poor afternoon against the Cherries as their Champions League hopes took another huge blow. Despite initially going 1-0 up through Heung-Min Son, Spurs found themselves behind after goals from Matias Vina and Dominic Solanke.

It looked as though they had managed to scramble a late point through Arnaut Danjuma ’s late equaliser, only for Dango Outtara to score a 95th minute winner. In the aftermath of their victory, the Bournemouth social media team had a bit of fun at their opponent’s expense.

An image of the goal celebrations was shared on their official Twitter account with the caption “North London is red,” in a cheeky call-out to Premier League leaders Arsenal. Infamous Gunners fan Morgan appeared to enjoy the jibe as he quoted the tweet and responded with a series of laughing and applause emojis.

It appeared many also enjoyed the tweet as much as the former Good Morning Britain host. At the time of writing, it has almost 7million views, over 100k likes and over 16k retweets.

In the meantime, a number of Morgan’s fellow Arsenal supporters have offered their thoughts. One fan responded: “For this tweet alone I hope @afcbournemouth stay up.”

Meanwhile, another wrote: “Lol, that’s fantastic. I was already supporting Bournemouth to remain, but now I’m even more with them! Now, bring on St. Totteringham's Day.”

Arsenal could make Spurs’ wretched weekend all the more painful as they attempt to continue their push for the Premier League crown. The Gunners take on relegation candidates West Ham on Sunday at the London Stadium.

A win would certainly bolster their hopes for the title but it would also ensure they finish above their neighbours - something they haven't achieved since the 2015/16 campaign when they managed to overtake Spurs on the final day of the season.

Following another dismal day at the office for his former side, BBC pundit Jermaine Jenas ripped into Tottenham and in particular, interim head coach Cristian Stellini.

Speaking on Match of the Day, he said: “I can’t understand why Cristian Stellini has come into this job and decided to play exactly the same way that Antonio Conte was playing.

“It was a real opportunity for him to come in and go ‘let’s play on the front foot, play with some energy, get these fans up’ and he’s just doing the same thing. It’s pointless.”

Spurs are now under severe threat of losing out on a place in the Champions League. They now sit fifth and three points behind Manchester United having played two matches more than the Red Devils.
