In life, it's rare that bad behaviour will breed positive results - but in one woman's case it certainly did, and social media users were seriously enraged.

When boarding a plane, there won't be any need to steal anyone's seat because you'll have your own allocated one. But one woman decided to sit in a man's seat and refused to move, but later reaped the benefits from her bold, cheeky decision.

Someone took to Reddit to vent about the frustrating situation, explaining that they were on a long-haul flight from Melbourne, Australia, to Abu Dhabi - a flight that takes around 14 hours.

They said that the plane was "absolutely packed" and during boarding in the row behind them, a "late middle-aged lady sat in the aisle seat." Then, "towards the end of boarding, a very tall man asked her to move, as she was in his allocated seat."

Rather than moving, the woman "refused, saying that he should sit in her middle seat", but she didn't move to allow him to move. There was then a "stand-off."

The passenger wrote: "Eventually, due to the man blocking the aisle for some minutes, the cabin crew came to see what was happening, and told the lady to move to her allocated seat.

"She point-blank refused and then just ignored them in silence. They asked the man if he would be willing to swap with her and take the middle seat, but he (understandably) wanted the aisle.

"Cut forward a few minutes, the cabin crew member speaks to her supervisor (I presumed), and they come back to the lady and offer her a seat in business class. At this point, she could not have moved quicker.

"Personally, I was disgusted. If anything, the displaced man should have been offered the upgrade. It was a sickener to see her bad behaviour rewarded."

In the comments, people were furious - also wondering why the woman was rewarded for her negativity.

One wrote: "Now I'm enraged, thanks." Another added: "And the seat stealer will learn that if she just doesn't do what she's supposed to, she'll be rewarded. Reinforcing entitled behaviour just gets more entitled behaviour."

Someone fumed: "Flight crew should have either given the man the upgrade to business class, or had the woman removed from the plane."

A Redditor suggested: "Sounds to me like the offer was a ruse to get her out of the seat and make it easier to get her off the plane", and someone replied: "I am hoping that is the case."

Another woman raged: "Wow!! If I were that man I would be sending a letter to corporate about that!!

"I was on a Delta flight once when something similar happened and the seat stealer refused to move so they were told they were going to be rebooked onto a different flight, the lady still refused and they had to get the cops to come and drag her off the plane - but they did it! THAT'S how you deal with seat stealers who won't move!!"
