Frank Lampard will be aiming to get his first win back at Chelsea this Saturday as the Blues host European contenders Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

The former Blues midfield icon has overseen two matches as interim boss since his return - both of which ending in defeat. Lampard endured a nightmare start to his second stint at the helm with a 1-0 loss to relegation candidates Wolves.

Another defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu has left them staring down the barrel of a Champions League exit and potentially a season without European football in any form next term. If the Blues fall to another defeat, it will already be their third run of three consecutive defeats in all competitions this season.

Given their opponents, that could be a realistic possibility. Roberto De Zerbi has made a big impact since replacing ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter on the south coast.

Despite their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham last time out, the Seagulls are still sitting pretty in seventh position and just seven points behind Spurs with two games in-hand. They will be very keen to get back to winning ways this weekend having not lost back-to-back Premier League games since October.

Another win over Chelsea would certainly go a long way in doing that. The Seagulls were irresistible during their 4-1 win at the AMEX Stadium - a success that represented their first victory over the Blues since 1933.

On the injury front, the Blues are set to be without summer signing Kalidou Koulibaly. The Senegalese defender was withdrawn during his side’s defeat in Spain after a difficult outing and joins Carney Chukwuemeka and Armando Broja on the sidelines.

For Brighton, the likes of Adam Lallana, Jakub Moder, Jeremy Sarmiento and Tariq Lamptey are all still out. Levi Colwill is ineligible to play against his parent side after what has been a relatively productive loan spell with the Seagulls so far.
