BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty responds to co-star's age dig with dry quip

Naga Munchetty bit back at her colleague after a cheeky swipe at her age.

The BBC Breakfast favourite was back on the red sofa this morning alongside co-star Charlie Stayt, 60.

But the pair had to defend themselves against accusations that they're both getting on a bit.

The 47-year-old welcomed sports correspondent Jane Dougall who was running through the weekend action.

She explained why age is proving no barrier when Essex face Lancashire on Friday's programme.

Jane said: "There's 78 years experience on the pitch there, I love it.

"I love that the older players are showing the younger players how it's done."

Smiling, Naga replied: "Don't ever underestimate experience."

Jane cheekily told her: "Exactly... there's a coach full of it here!"

Naga quipped: "Thanks Jane, we're old, thanks."

The host did laugh off the remark and ended the segment with a smile, so it seems as if she took the comment on the chin.

Fans on twitter were glad to see her back.

One said: "Naga in superb****y mode this morning #BBCBreakfast".

A second added: "Looking stunning today Naga x".

It came a day after BBC Breakfast reporter Tim Muffett was left outside alone by TV chef Ainsley Harriott, who shut the door in his face.

On Thursday, Tim and Ainsley were out door-knocking, when Ainsley ended up leaving Tim and going inside a woman's house mid-report.

While Tim was talking to studio hosts Naga and Charlie - the hosts pointed out that the door had been shut without him knowing.

Charlie Stayt pointed out: "Oh, Ainsley has gone in, he's really just gone right in."

Looking baffled, Tim said: "He's gone in? He's gone in..."

Naga laughed: "He makes friends very, very quickly."
