Mane "convinced" by Liverpool as Bayern Munich incident throws future into doubt

Sadio Mane's Bayern Munich future has been plunged into doubt after an altercation with teammate Leroy Sane following Tuesday night's 3-0 defeat by Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Bundesliga giants were well beaten in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash and now face an uphill battle to stay in the competition. Thomas Tuchel was recently appointed as manager and is already staring down the barrel of a dressing room crisis in light of Mane's clash with Sane.

It has been reported that the former Liverpool star allegedly hit Sane. German media outlets claim the bust-up happened in Bayern's dressing room at full-time.

It's claimed the row was 'short' but 'loud' and was a direct result of an on-field spat between the two forwards during the closing stages of the defeat by City. Mane was only introduced to proceedings in the 69th minute, but just moments later was already arguing with Sane in full view of everyone watching.

The ill feeling carried over into the dressing room and BILD report that tensions boiled over when Mane allegedly struck Sane in the face, catching the ex-City star on the lip in the process.

It has since been reported that Mane is expected to apologise to his Bayern colleague at training while those running the club mull over a suitable punishment, which ranges from a fine to a potential exit in the summer.

This ugly incident is just the latest low for Mane, who has endured a torrid time of it since swapping Merseyside for Munich last summer.

Mane has netted just six goals for the Bundesliga champions and has spent plenty of time on the sidelines nursing a leg injury that has hindered his campaign.

As a result, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive over whether Mane will still be at the Allianz next year. Comments made by the Senegalese star surrounding his former side Liverpool have also raised eyebrows amid all the speculation.

Pressed for comment on the Reds' difficult first season without him, Mane made clear he still harboured plenty of affection for both the club and the manager.

"Liverpool will be back," Mane told Bild. "I'm convinced they will overcome this situation.

"They had many injuries and tough tests, but Jurgen Klopp is definitely the right man. He will lead Liverpool back up, from this season - the players love him."

Some have interpreted the remarks as a sign that Mane longs for life back at Anfield and in light of the recent development with Sane, mixed with his injury struggles and few could really blame him.
