A royal gynaecologist has told how Kate Middleton was in labour for 12 hours as he gives new details over Prince George’s birth.
Sir Marcus Setchell, 79, said that he kept telling himself that William and Kate would be going through the same emotions as any other parents during the birth at the Lindo Wing, on July 22, 2013.
He along with fellow gynaecologists Alan Farthing and Guy Thorpe-Beest helped bring George into the world.
And giving fresh insight into what happened that day, he told how he crept into the hospital early in the morning with Kate admitted at 5am.
Sir Marcus told how Princess Kate had a 12 hour labour at St Mary’s Hospital before the birth.

Sir Marcus was one of three gynaecologists at the birth (UK Press via Getty Images)“I think what I tried to do at Prince George’s birth was to keep reminding myself that actually this is just another baby with parents who are likely to be having all the same emotions and pains and discomforts as all the people I look after,” he told the Telegraph.
Sir Marcus had delayed his retirement so as to oversee Kate’s pregnancy and now Dr Farthing has replaced him as surgeon-gynaecologist to the Royal Family.
Sir Marcus also praised the Queen for her “leadership” and he said she was “absolutely fabulous”.
"I mean she’s been such an example to leaders,” he said.
"She really had leadership skills but not in a brash way like politicians. She was very easy to get on with the first few times …"
George will be 10 this year and royal fans have commented on how tall he is looking.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Easter Mattins Service alongside their three children George, Charlotte and Louis - and people pointed to how much George had grown.
He looks to have inherited his parents' height, with his dad William, 40, standing at 6ft 3in while Kate, 41, is 5ft 9in, OK reports.
Taking to social media, fans expressed their shock at George's height, with one person writing: "George has gotten so tall!! All three have. But I can't believe he's going to be ten!!"

A second said: "Prince George is a tall, solid looking lad which is what the Spencers were! Definitely a similarity to Prince George! Diana’s brother & in particular her father."
"Prince George is going to be a tall man!" a third fan wrote. A fourth added: "Prince George is getting SO tall!! He's nine years old!"
Given the height that Prince George has inherited, it can be said with some certainty that he will be tall as he grows up. But will he be the tallest king in British history?
The tallest king on record is currently Edward IV. Henry VIII’s grandfather measured in at 6ft 4 ½ and his record remains unbroken.
While William will just miss out on the chance to claim the title of the tallest king in history, Prince George is still in there with a chance.
