British woman's botched surgery left her with 'rotting flesh' and unplanned BBL

Belfast fitness fanatic Michelle Heath joined Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle on Tuesday's This Morning to discuss her horror plastic surgery nightmare.

Michelle travelled to Turkey wanting get rid of saggy skin around her legs and back after losing 10 stone in her early 20s.

She had previously been given a breast lift and tummy tuck on the NHS, aged 24, after being diagnosed with conical breast syndrome.

In August 2021, she booked in for the procedures abroad but was left in pain after going under the knife.

She explained she had been told she would stay in hospital for two days following the operation but instead was asked to leave after one.

Michelle was forced to wait in the hospital's reception for five hours for her transfer and couldn't understand why she was unable to sit down.

"At this point I didn't know they had done the BBL on me," she said as Josie exclaimed: "You didn't know!"

Explaining to host Craig what the procedure involves, she continued: "A BBL is when a [surgeon] takes fat from part of your body and inject it into your bum and it's the most dangerous cosmetic procedure because it can go straight into veins and cause an embolism in your heart."

"I didn't ask for [the BBL], I didn't find out that had happened to me until the third day. I didn't know why I couldn't sit down," she explained.

Michelle recalled trying to get in contact with medical professionals at the clinic she visited for help while she experienced unbearable pain.

When she arrived back home in Belfast, a family friend advised her to go straight to A&E after noticing Michelle smelt of "rotting flesh".

"I'm glad I woke up with all my kidneys," Michelle joked.

Michelle received treatment for the infection but suffered another setback when the wound in her back burst open.

She underwent more surgery to help clear the infection and subsequently received a skin graft.

The fitness fanatic told Josie and Craig she shared her story to help those who are considering plastic surgery themselves as she stressed the importance of receiving sufficient aftercare.
