In just a few weeks' time, she will be crowned Queen in a historic joint Coronation alongside King Charles.
But at one point, it seemed seeing Camilla referred to as Queen and being crowned with her husband was a long shot.
In fact, on their wedding day exactly 18 years ago today, it was announced she would be given an unprecedented title when Charles became King - and it wasn't Queen.
At the time of their marriage in 2005, an official statement said it was "intended" that Camilla would have been known as HRH The Princess Consort rather than Queen.

It came as public opinion of her was previously not favourable due to her relationship with Charles.
But 18 years on that has all changed, with her being referred to as Queen Camilla on the Coronation invitations - but it seems the palace statement on the wedding day contained one key word that hinted she would be Queen - 'intended'.

In his book Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes And Dreams, he writes: "The critical word in this statement, of course, was 'intended'. What Clarence House was doing was buying time — time for a hostile public to warm to Camilla.
"Prince Charles, however, has always intended her to become his queen consort. According to an inside source, he'd already decided that before their wedding."

A senior Palace source said: "It made sense to refer to Her Majesty as The Queen Consort in the early months of His Majesty’s reign, to distinguish from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
"'Queen Camilla' is the appropriate title to set against ‘King Charles’ on the invitation.
"The Coronation is an appropriate time to start using ‘Queen Camilla’ in an official capacity.
"All former Queen Consorts have been known as ‘Queen’ plus their first name."

The royal family website will be changed from Queen Consort to Queen after the coronation.
The late Queen Elizabeth II last February expressed her “sincere wish” that her daughter-in-law would be known as Queen Consort when Charles became King.
A year later this February Camilla launched the Queen’s Reading Room – without the “Consort” – when she updated the name of her charity, the Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room.
