What a mess Chelsea are in.

Blues chair Todd Boehly has spent more than £500million on fresh talent since completing a takeover last summer, but that investment is yet to pay dividends. Chelsea are 11th in the Premier League and need a new manager after Graham Potter was shown the door on Sunday night. Former Brighton defender Bruno Satlor is their interim boss.

Chelsea's first game without Potter was a boring goalless draw against Liverpool at home on Tuesday night. Their next outing is against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday afternoon. With that game in mind, here are the latest headlines from Stamford Bridge.

Havertz reacts to Potter exit

Kai Havertz has broken rank by admitting the squad's 'frustration' at Potter's departure. The Germany international was a regular in the starting XI during Potter's time in charge and has called the situation "not nice", with uncertainty hanging over the club.

Havertz said, "First of all, I have to say it is really nice and we have to respect Bruno and the coaching staff for standing in front of the team when the manager got the sack.

"The club has to respect those guys. But it is not our job to think about who is coming in, it is up to the owners to decide that.

Do you think Chelsea were right to sack Graham Potter? Let us know in the comments below!

"We have to do our job on the pitch but when you have a manager long-term it is easier for us players. It is not nice, we have to take responsibility for what is going on. We are at the front, everyone sees us. We are all very frustrated to see Graham go but we have to accept the situation."

Lampard being tipped for return

One man who could replace Potter on an interim basis is former manager Frank Lampard. The ex-midfielder, who coached Chelsea between July 2019 and January 2021, is a free agent after being sacked by Everton three months ago. He has also managed Derby.

That appointment could appease Havertz. The German said in December 2020, "He is very important to me. We all know him as a player, I would say here in England and internationally in world football he is one of the greatest legends.

"Of course, having someone like that as a coach cannot be taken for granted. I appreciate that very much. As a coach he is very helpful for me, he can teach me a lot... The [transfer] talks were very good and it didn't take me long to sign for Chelsea because of him."

Mount an "important player"

Chelsea's interim boss Bruno has confirmed Mason Mount is available for selection, despite speculation over his future. The England international, 24, has just a year remaining on his existing deal - with Liverpool believed to be after his services.

Bruno told reporters, "He was available, but he's coming back from an injury. It's always challenging bringing players back from injury. He can play in different positions.
