A man has been left permanently injured following a plane crashing to the ground at a London airport.
Emergency services were called to Damyns Hall aerodrome in Upminster shortly after midday on Tuesday.
Metropolitan Police said a light aircraft crashed shortly after take-off at the former RAF base, with a man and woman found at the scene.
Despite initial reports that no-one was hurt, the force said a man was later taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for the Met's Havering police team said: "We were called at 12.12hrs today to reports of a light aircraft that crashed shortly after take-off, in the area of Aveley Road Upminster.

Damyns Hall is a training site for the aviation industry and does not operate commercial flights.
It's understood the plane which crashed was a light aircraft.
