Man, 36, arrested after six-year-old girl mauled by dog in savage street attack
A 36-year-old man has been arrested after a young girl was mauled by a dog, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed.
Police said in a statement: "Police have now arrested a 36-year-old man in relation to the dog attack on a 6-year-old girl, on suspicion of offences under Section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and perverting the course of justice."
A total of 17 dogs have been seized, according to the authorities.
Officers from the force were called to an address in Carrington at around 2.40pm on Sunday to reports of a child who had suffered injuries caused by dogs.
The girl is still receiving treatment after she was rushed to hospital. Reports on Tuesday said she was in a stable condition.

The young girl is in a stable condition (Anthony Moss | Manchester Evening News)Police confirmed the man arrested was the fourth in connection with the incident, after three people were arrested on suspicion of owning a dangerous dog were released on bail earlier this week.
GMP said: "Four adult dogs were seized by officers on Sunday along with nine puppies, and they were taken away by specialist partners.
"Three people arrested on suspicion of owning a dangerous dog have been released on bail.
"Enquiries are continuing to locate individuals GMP believe have responsibility for the dogs."
Officers also said a van found in south Manchester was being examined as a vehicle of interest.
Detective Inspector Matthew Dixon, of GMP's Trafford district, added: "This is a fluid investigation and so far we have recovered 17 dogs and made three arrests, as well as a vehicle of interest.
GMP said the force referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over the incident.
It is not yet known why the dogs attacked the girl. Footage seen by the Mirror showed a brave passerby attempting to pull the dogs off the young girl, who was playing in the street when the incident occurred.
The child's mum could be heard screaming "help me - my baby" as she tried to warn off the dogs, neighbours told the Mail Online.

"It's scary that this has happened here. She was just playing out and then this has happened to the poor little girl."
Another neighbour, the newspaper reported, said they were alerted by "horrible screams."
"We ran out and the girl just screamed and then went limp," they said. "She was covered in blood. Her mum and dad and some neighbours were pulling off the dogs."
