Madame Tussauds' new royal experience unveils re-dressed King Charles

In celebration of King Charles III's coronation, Madame Tussauds London has launched a brand-new experience allowing visitors to have the full royal treatment.

Guests at the world famous attraction will be able to go beyond the gates of Buckingham Palace and get a sneak peak into royal life, ahead of the massive event that will take place on May 6.

Madame Tussaud London's Royal Palace experience, which opened on Tuesday March 28, allows fans to snap a selfie with The Prince and Princess of Wales, have an afternoon tea in the Royal Drawing Room or wave at the cheering crowds from the Royal Balcony – before heading to the Throne Room for an audience with the King and Queen Consort.

Charles first sat for Madame Tussauds' sculptors in 1968, but the now-King has been redressed in homage to the outfit he wore for the first-ever State Banquet of his reign, in November 2022.

The wax museum's wardrobe team spent 140 hours finessing the details of the sovereign's look, which includes nine miniature medals and a diamond Lesser George medal to the insignia of the Order of the Garter.

In addition to rubbing shoulders with the senior royals, you'll also be able to take a moment with the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who were married for 73 years.

Queen Elizabeth, who passed away aged 96 last September, is dressed in a recreation of the white and silver lace dress, worn at her official Diamond Jubilee and covered in 53,000 Swarovski elements.

Nestled among the British royals are also Sir Mo Farah and Dame Judi Dench, whose wax figures have also had a brand new re-dress for the new experience.

For the opening of the debut event, a patriotic group of corgis were allowed to enjoy a VIP tour.

Tim Waters, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London, explained: "If you want to get close to the Royals and get a true sense of what it feels like to be part of the British monarchy, then this is a totally unparalleled experience. We all know the place corgis have in the heart of The Royal Family, so it seemed only fitting that we invited these cheeky, charming canines for what was a 'pawsome occasion'."
