While you'd assume that working at a popular fast food chain, such as McDonald's, involves nothing but an unlimited lifeline to burgers and fries - an employee has revealed otherwise.

A worker has claimed that they spend the majority of their time haggling with customers over their orders.

Taking to popular video-streaming service TikTok, Abbie Selby pleaded with parents to stop an annoying habit as she shared 'the reality of working at McDonald's'.

Sharing a clip online, which has surpassed 90,000 views to date, Abbi - who posts under account @abbieselbby - explained what really goes on behind closed doors at the food order drive through.

Detailing a conversation between her and a customer, a McDonald's customer told her: "Hiya, I've just come through the drive through and all of my breakfast food is cold."

"Right, it's half past 11 - there's not much I can do for you breakfast wise. Breakfast ended at 11," Abbi replied.

The customer said: "I just want my food remade, I'm not sure what's so hard about that."

The employee clarified: "We switched everything over now, so we're on main menu. We haven't got any left."

"Are you joking?" Are you actually joking me?" The parent questioned. "I've got freezing cold food here and you're not even offering me a replacement."

She went on: "Right, now my kids are going to starve because of you. Because of you my kids aren't going to eat their breakfast."

Despite being able to offer them happy meals as a replacement, Abbie explained how the customer told her that they were 'absolutely outraged'.

Taking to the comment section of the viral clip, TikTok users sympathised with the fast food employee.

One person wrote: "Nothing worse when they pull out 'my kids are gonna starve'."

"It's ALWAYSSSS 'my kids are gonna starve'," a second added.

A third wrote: "Not surprised it went cold in half an hour."

Meanwhile, someone else commented: "Idk why people complain about cold food - I forgot about mine for an hour and it was almost nicer."
