After controversially announcing that they were axing hot cross buns for 2023, food chain Greggs has now announced their new Easter menu - and it contains two new limited edition coffee flavours.

Greggs caused outrage when they promised new tasty treats on the menu, but admitted the hot cross bun wouldn't be returning, leaving some social media users asking whether they'd "lost the plot."

Christians traditionally give up something for Lent before Easter time, so tasty treats can be enjoyed once Lent is over, but if they were hoping for hot cross buns from Greggs, they'll have to settle for another of their offerings.

The sweet treats that have replaced the hot cross buns include a cinnamon swirl latte, a cinnamon flat white, Easter buns, a bunny biscuit, and an Easter chocolate cake bar.

The cinnamon swirl latte is made with freshly ground Fairtrade coffee beans, velvety steamed milk, and it contains cinnamon-style syrup. And if that wasn't sweet enough for you, it's topped with sweetened cream and cinnamon-flavoured sugar.

Similarly, the cinnamon flat white contains double espresso made with Fairtrade coffee beans, cinnamon syrup, steamed, and lightly frothed milk, then it's topped with cinnamon-flavoured sugar.

You may be left wondering what's replacing the hot cross buns - well, there are three tasty treats to hopefully make you forget all about your cravings.

There's a new Easter bun on the block made from vanilla flavour sponge, topped with fondant and a sugar paste decoration.

Meanwhile, Greggs' bunny biscuit is made from crunchy chocolate flavour biscuit, covered in milk chocolate and hand finished with icing.

And finally, there's an Easter chocolate cake bar, which consists of chocolate-flavoured sponge that's coated with Fairtrade milk chocolate, topped with chocolate flavour icing and an Easter decoration.

Greggs' decision to remove hot cross buns from their menu this year has caused quite a stir on social media, with some people even threatening to "boycott" the chain due to their decision. Some questioned whether it was due to the cost of living crisis, with some branding it "outrageous."

Do you think any of these treats can replace the hot cross bun? Let us know in the comments.
