Tesco announces Easter store closures - alongside Aldi, Asda and Sainsbury's

Tesco will be closing the doors of its large supermarket stores in England, Northern Ireland and Wales this Easter Sunday.

Tescos large superstore sites will not be opening on Sunday, April 9, whilst the majority of its smaller Express stores will remain open.

Stores in Scotland will remain open on Easter Sunday but they will be opening in line with Sunday trading hours.

These laws say if a store chooses to remain open then they can only do so for six consecutive hours between 10am to 6pm.

On Good Friday, Tesco stores will be operating normal trading hours however some of its later opening stores will be closing a little earlier at 10pm.

On Easter Monday, Tesco said its store opening hours would vary depending on location and store type.

Many large stores will be operating with reduced hours and its Express stores will be open as usual.

Before heading down to your local store, it is always advisable to double-check the opening hours and you can do this by checking the supermarket's online store finder tool.

Other UK supermarkets have also announced store closures for Easter including Morrisons, Asda, Sainsbury's and Aldi.

Large Morrisons stores will be closed in England and Wales on Sunday and the Scottish stores will be opening for their normal hours.

It also told Mirror Money that the "vast majority" of their convenience stores will be open with some exceptions such as sites inside shopping centres.

Asda also will close its stores on Easter Sunday and will be operating its normal hours on Friday 7 and Saturday 8.

Again, Scottish stores will be open.

Sainsbury's will close around 600 of its big stores in England and Wales, with Scottish stores to remain open.

Aldi said it would also be closing 890 stores across England and Eales on Easter Sunday.

Like with every holiday such as this, it is always best to plan ahead and stock up for any food you may need over Easter to avoid disappointment.

Supermarkets such as Sainsbury's, Asda, and Morrisons also have an online store finder tool, which can be found on their websites, to check the opening times of your local.
