Phillip Schofield walked away from Holly Willoughby on This Morning after she made a mistake while reading the autocue.

The presenter confused her words by incorrectly stating the This Morning duo would be "leaving the room" for an Easter egg segment before correcting her mistake.

"Leave the room? Let's hope we leave...," Holly questioned before her This Morning co-host interjected: "Let's hope we leave room."

"Oh! Leave room not leave the room, I get you," Holly quipped before the production team gave This Morning viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the ITV show by turning the cameras to the presenters' autocue.

Phillip then hit out at those operating the cameras for showing the autocue on screen as he panicked that he would be out of a job before walking away from his This Morning co-host.

"Don't transmit the autocue, if you just show the autocue there's no need for you. We can run the autocue, you can read it at home," Phillip exclaimed. "Read it for yourself, bye bye."

As Holly burst out laughing at his mistake and the chaos that followed, the This Morning host popped up again as she added: "I will make sure I leave room."

Phillip then admitted his biggest fear was the ITV programme replacing he and Holly with the autocue.

Earlier in the week, Phillip revealed he had been at the centre of a scam which nearly saw two family friends being taken in and losing a chunk of their money.

Phillip and Holly were joined by expert Alexis Conran to discuss the rise in fake celebrity endorsements.

The expert used an example of a fake web page with Phillip's face on it, along with the headline: "Bank of England sues Phillip Schofield for what he said on live TV."

Discussing the scam, centered around crypto currency, Phillip explained: "We had two friends of the family; one who emailed me, one that spoke to my mum. Both said, 'Ooh I just want to check, I'm about to send my £250 off, I just wanted to make sure this was OK.'

"My mum said 'Don't be so stupid, it's a scam' and I said 'Absolutely, no way. It's a scam, I would absolutely not do that!"

This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays at 10am.
