An inspired punter stands to collect over £200,000 in winnings after landing a remarkable trio of acca on the third day of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.

The William Hill customer found four winners among five selections which were placed in three separate accumulator bets.

Stage Star, backed at 9-1, Envoi Allen (12-1), Seddon (20-1) and Sire Du Berlais (33-1) were all rolled into a £1 each-way four-fold accumulator which returned £84,857.03. The only loser was Itchy Feet (40-1).

The punter also backed the same horses in £5 each-way trebles and £10 each-way doubles which added another £135,068.61 to his winnings, brining the total to nearly £220,000, from a total stake of £310.

It is the second betting windfall reported by Hills during the meeting after a woman from the West Midlands scooped over £40,000 from a 50p accumulator bet.

William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “We’ve had a few massive accumulators hit us hard this week and this is the biggest of them yet. Picking 33/1-shot Sire Du Berlais to win the Stayers’ is hard enough, let alone adding in three other big-priced selections to land odds of over 90,000/1.”
