An eight-year-old boy has been arrested after he allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed a child's neck.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office in Florida, US, confirmed they were called out to a home on Saturday at around 4.25pm after receiving reports of a foster child being choked by a boy.

Officers were told the eight-year-old allegedly choked the foster child and only let him go when he said he couldn't breathe.

The suspect then slashed the boy's neck when the victim approached him with the knife. The weapon was snatched off the child him by the victim's friend.

After having the knife taken off him the boy allegedly threatened to "kill everyone" as he went to grab a stick and tried to hit the foster child.

Fortunately, children standing close by were able to stop the boy as the victim stormed off.

Police were called and the eight-year-old child to run away multiple times as he resisted attempts to be placed in handcuffs, according to officers.

However, whilst cops tried to place him into the police car the boy allegedly kicked an officer and the car.

He was eventually arrested and taken to the Lake County Detention Centre where he remains.

The boy's affidavit states he has a past of violence, it reads: "It should be noted, the Juvenile Defendant has a past history of violence at the residence and to others.

"The foster children are in fear of the Juvenile Defendant."

According to reports, the victim was able to communicate with emergency services and his injuries weren't said to be life-threatening.

The eight-year-old faces charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting a law enforcement officer.
