When you go out to a restaurant, you often expect to have a nice experience as you're paying for the pleasure of not having to cook at home.

But one woman has slammed her recent visit to a restaurant after she was left 'disgusted' by a fellow parent's actions at the dinner table.

The unnamed woman turned to the internet to get their thoughts on the bizarre situation, as she claimed the establishment's manager "didn't seem to care" about it.

Writing in a post on Netmums Coffee House forum, she told how a parent at the table next to hers 'whipped' out a potty during the meal and allowed their child to use it in the restaurant while others were eating.

She asked fellow users if they thought it was acceptable, as she thought it was "disgusting".

Her message read: "Went out for a meal last night and in the middle of it the table next to me whipped out a potty and sat a child on it under their table, the mum then stuck her napkin on top and waltzed off to the ladies to empty it.

"Firstly, this child was half naked in a crowded restaurant, and secondly - yuck, I didn't need to have that happen right next to where I was eating my dinner.

"I know kids need to go when they need to go but we were literally 10 steps from the toilets!"

She added: "I complained as we were leaving but they had left by then, the manager didn't seem to care very much and said they were 'family-friendly'. Unacceptable behaviour or AIBU?"

Dozens of people replied to the post with many agreeing it was 'dreadful'.

One person replied: "No need for that could of just walked them to toilet. That is disgusting."

Another said: "Dreadful. I was once in a restaurant and a woman started changing her baby's nappy on the table next to us.

"The staff asked her to stop and directed her to the changing area about 5 yards away, but she said 'I'm not changing my baby in a toilet!'

"They asked her to leave, and she was shouting that they wouldn't have dared kick her out if she'd been breastfeeding... Well, no... but I've no problem with a baby eating its dinner next to me while I eat mine... but I have no desire to have anyone, regardless of age, wiping their bottom next to me while I try to enjoy a plate of sweet and sour..."

Someone else responded: "Absolutely disgusting... some people are just vile. But I don't see the point in complaining to management after the family has already left... what did you expect him to actually do? I'd have called out the family then and there."
