Paris Saint-Germain boss Christophe Galtier is safe in his role as manager, for now, despite the club's recent elimination from the Champions League.

The French giants were swept aside by Bayern Munich at the round-of-16 stage, who won 1-0 in Paris before recording a 2-0 victory on home soil to heap huge pressure on Galtier. It has been reported that the manager was already losing power within the dressing room after a slow start to the year and this latest low has only made things worse.

Currently, PSG sit eight points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table, but as is often the case this season's main target would have been to finally win the Champions League.

With Galtier at the helm, the reigning French champions crashed out of the Coupe de France last month after a 2-1 defeat away at Marseille and now only have the league left to try and win.

The 56-year-old has seen both his tactics and decision making called into question this year.

The fact he deployed three teenagers in his squad for the trip to the Allianz to face Bayern raised eyebrows given what was at stake, while his constant tweaking of structure and system has also sparked backlash.

Despite all of this, it has since been claimed by Goal that those at the top of the PSG hierarchy are willing to stick with Galtier for the remainder of the season, though they hadly have much faith in him.

The PSG manager was quickly faced with a plethora of questions surrounding his job in the aftermath of defeat by Bayern, but kept his cards close to his chest when it came to revealing what the next steps would look like.

"My future? It’s really too early to talk about it. It obviously depends on the (club’s) management and my president. There’s a disappointment.

"The club had a lot of hopes for this competition. I stay focused on the end of the season with a lot of energy and determination."

Galtier placed a lot of emphasis on injuries and players missing when asked what the difference was between his side and Bayern, with the likes of Neymar and Presnel Kimpembe both ruled out of action for the trip to Munich.

"The difference with Bayern? Player availability," he bemoaned. "We had a lot of important absentees in the first game and the second. It is still a great disappointment, everyone is disappointed, me the most. We had a lot of hope on this return leg."
