Liverpool have fluttered back down to Earth after Sunday's incredible 7-0 victory over arch rivals Manchester United.

The Reds ran riot at Anfield, producing a record-breaking result which Jurgen Klopp's side can use as a springboard for the second half of the season. A Premier League top-four finish is still well within sight and thanks to the weekend win, confidence is high at Anfield heading into the run-in.

On Saturday, Liverpool will travel to Bournemouth in the early kick-off and three more points would see the Reds go into fourth place before Tottenham play a few hours later. Then comes the Champions League second leg away to Real Madrid, with Klopp and co needing to overturn a three-goal deficit in order to reach the quarter-finals.

Here's a round-up of the latest news from Anfield.

Van Dijk sends warning after FIFPRO report

Virgil van Dijk has warned football authorities that players aren't robots following a report which underlined the additional stress which elite-level players have under because of the winter World Cup. FIFPRO's workload survey found that 54 per cent of footballers who were questioned have been injured or felt more likely to suffer an injury since the tournament in Qatar, with 44 per cent experiencing "extreme or increased physical fatigue" in the month after.

After reaching the quarter-finals with the Netherlands, Van Dijk injured a hamstring during one of Liverpool's first games back. "It [the lack of rest pre-World Cup] caught up with me unfortunately," The Reds defender explained. "My body, I'm not a robot. In order to be ready for the World Cup, I wanted to play all the games at my club and that's what I managed to do apart from one game."

Wilson sends Liverpool apology

Callum Wilson has reluctantly apologised after dismissing Liverpool's resurgence. After the Reds beat Wilson's top-four-chasing Newcastle 2-0 to make it back-to-back wins last month, the England international said: "You're asking me are Liverpool back? What do you want me to say? They have won two games after the last couple of weeks and like I'm saying we technically let them win, it was a poor performance from our point of view."

Wilson has now U-turned on his stance after appearing on the Footballer's Football Podcast. "I apologise for saying that Liverpool aren't back," the 31-year-old declared. "They're back with a bang! Anything I say at the minute the universe shows the opposite."

Carragher "delighted" after PSG exit

After Paris Saint-Germain were dumped out of the Champions League following their 3-0 defeat on aggregate to Bayern Munich on Wednesday, Jamie Carragher confessed that was "delighted." PSG crumbled in the last 16 for the second season running and Carragher didn't hide his feelings after the match.

"I am delighted that PSG have gone out," the Liverpool legend told CBS Sports. "I just don't like the whole setup – everything about it. That is not a team, it is a mess."
