The Green Bay Packers are reportedly preparing for Jordan Love to be their starting quarterback in the upcoming 2023 season, signalling the end for Aaron Rodgers with the team.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter tweeted on Wednesday that the idea of Love being the starter is looking 'increasingly likely'. Rodgers has been allowed to speak to other teams as he seeks a move away from the team and met with the New York Jets this week.

The Jets have been reported as a landing spot for Rodgers throughout the off-season, and could now be set to make a move after years of poor play at the quarterback position.

For the Jets to make a move though, they would likely have to part with two first-round picks. The Packers have been swayed to trade Rodgers after a poor season in 2022, with both parties being not committal on the future.

Rodgers joining the Jets would seemingly make be a strong move on paper. The New York franchise has it's best roster decades, and would have been a playoff team had it not been for poor play from quarterback Zach Wilson.

But after benching Wilson, the team have been open on their ambitions to bring in a veteran quarterback. The Jets' front office met with Derek Carr before he joined the New Orleans Saints, and did have reported interest in both Geno Smith and Jimmy Garoppolo.

A move for Rodgers would be taking the 'all-in' approach, essentially trading away two huge future assets to win within the next few seasons with the 39-year-old.

Rodgers would be around a strong supporting cast, being protected by a strong offensive line, and having elite weapons in Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.

The quarterback has yet to speak in recent weeks, not appearing on the Pat McAfee Show weekly as fans are used to.

He recently completed a 'darkness retreat' in south Oregon. Rodgers spent four days living in a small underground facility, where he hoped to "have a better sense" of where he was "at in life".

Rodgers has only given one interview since then when he appeared on a podcast, but gave little away about his NFL future. Fans can now expect a decision in the coming days, prior to the free agency period getting underway on March 15.
