Kylian Mbappe's contract at Paris Saint-Germain will be automatically extended by a further year if the club win the Champions League.
The striker penned a new deal at the Parc des Princes last May through to the summer of 2024 – although the final year of that deal is an optional renewal on the player's behalf. However, that will be automatically extended to 2025 should the club secure European glory.
Mbappe recently clarified his future in the French capital after refusing to outline his happiness at the club. "For now, a second World Cup," the France international said in November when quizzed over his alleged transfer request. "After that, I don't know."
However, the striker told reporters on Saturday: "For me, it's a privilege to play here. I'm from Paris and being at PSG is special. I arrived when I was young and I've grown and matured a lot, on and off the pitch, since then."
It has been revealed in L'Equipe, via Mundo Deportivo, that Mbappe’s agreement with the club last summer included the unusual clause that a Champions League win would trigger his stay through to 2025. PSG have never won the competition previously in their history.

If PSG do not taste European glory this season, Mbappe will have to commit to whether he wishes to extend his stay to 2025 or not, the report adds. Should the striker avail of the option, the club would be obliged to make a €100million payment as per their agreement.

Mbappe netted in the Ligue 1 win over Nantes, making him PSG’s all-time record goal scorer with 201 goals, surpassing Edinson Cavani. It came ahead of a potentially season-defining Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
He added: "Have I saved goals 202, 203 and 204 for Wednesday? Yes, I hope so! We travel with the intention of winning and qualifying. We must go with the determination and confidence that we will progress through to the quarters."
When asked if his future was linked to PSG’s progress in the competition, he responded: "I don't think so. If I linked my future to the Champions League, and I don't want to disrespect the club, I would have gone very far! I am here and I am very happy, and for the moment I'm not thinking about anything other than making PSG happy."
