At least one person has died after two small planes collided above a lake on Tuesday.

Emergency services are searching Lake Hartridge in Winter Haven, Florida. The incident occurred near Winter Haven Regional Airport.

The water is being searched and crews are also scanning the area from the sky, authorities said. The lake has a surface area of 433 acres.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the planes crashed into the water at about 2 pm local time (7 pm GMT).

A few hours later, Polk County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the body of one person has been recovered.
