Some people will do anything for a tan - it doesn't matter whether it's real, or fake. Of course, if you are going to sit in the sun, it's important to remember your trusty SPF. But one thing that can get a bit irritating about catching some rays is tan lines. They're a stark reminder of how pale you were beforehand, and many try to get rid of them by turning around frequently, and not wearing things that create any obvious marks.

But beauty lovers have been bemused by one TikToker's dedication to having tan lines. She loves them so much that she fakes them with bronzer.

Gih Coelho, who posts under username @coelhoaoquadrado, explained that she "didn't have time to sunbathe", so wanted to fake her tan lines.

Gih could be seen using tape and bronzer to replicate a tan line from a halterneck bikini, and at the end of the video, she can be seen posing in a bandeau top with her faux sunkissed look on show.

In the comments, people were confused about why she wanted to achieve a tanned look, with the tanlines.

One wrote: "Aren't you supposed to avoid tan lines?"

Someone defended the look though, commenting: "Everyone saying why but I actually think this looks SO ICONIC."

"I do this every morning", a TikToker admitted.

"This is the first time I've seen tan lines be a flex", another said, whilst someone else admitted that they actually purposefully wear bikinis that will give them a good tan line, commenting: "I purposely choose to tan in non-strapless bikinis because I love tan lines they're so slay I don't care."

"Until it rains sister", one woman warned.
