After losing to one Manchester club on Sunday, Newcastle United face the other side from the City on Saturday.

Eddie Howe's side were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final, with Casemiro and Marcus Rashford on Sunday. Next up is a trip to the Etihad Stadium where title-chasing Manchester City await.

The home side will know they can't afford too many more slip-ups as they look to chase down league leaders Arsenal and earn a third successive title. It won't be easy, though, with the Magpies having only lost two league games all season - both against Liverpool.

When is Manchester City v Newcastle

Manchester City and Newcastle United will kick off at 12.30pm UK time on Saturday, March 4, with the game being held at the Etihad Stadium. It comes after the two teams produced a thriller when they last met, back in August at St James' Park.

Back then, Newcastle came from behind to open up a 3-1 lead, only for Bernardo Silva's equaliser to earn the visitors a point. It saw City lose their grip on top spot, and they have sat in second place for all but one week since.

"Newcastle are becoming one of the toughest opponents for sure," Pep Guardiola said after the game. "Leeds beat Chelsea today. The Premier League is so difficult for everyone.

"It shows how amazing we’ve done for five years and how difficult it will be. To see the team fight to the end is enough."

City are unbeaten across the last seven league and cup clashes, winning six. Newcastle's last victory over the Manchester club came in January 2019, when goals from Salomon Rondon and Matt Ritchie brought them a 2-1 win.

How to watch

The game will be shown live on BT Sport. That means BT Sport 1 or BT Sport Ultimate for subscribers wishing to watch on TV, while it will also be available via the BT Sport app for those keen to watch on their phone, tablet or laptop.

“We're desperate to get back here and win a trophy," Newcastle boss Howe said after his team's Wembley loss. "It's disappointing and it hurts badly to see the supporters who have been amazing for us this season.

“Our intent was to be brave as we have been all season. It's decided on big moments and the free-kick we've not defended well enough."

An instant response will be needed in the league, with a top-four place hanging in the balance. Tottenham moved four points ahead of Howe's team with their win over Chelsea on Sunday, but Newcastle have two games in hand.
