Thiago Silva slams "joke" decision as Chelsea board make "momentous" promise
Graham Potter can't escape the heat at Chelsea as pressure on his position as manager ramps up.
The Blues boss came under more fire following Sunday's dismal 2-0 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur which leaves his side with only two wins from their last 15 games in all competitions. Co-controlling owner Todd Boehly and his fellow club chiefs are preparing to wield the axe should Chelsea fail to improve after vital games against Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund over the next week.
More than 45,000 signatures have been attributed to a petition calling for Potter to be sacked, with fans venting their fury after a wretched season so far. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has classily offered him support, but the former Brighton & Hove Albion gaffer will need plenty more than that to survive the season in West London.
Here's a round-up of the latest news from Stamford Bridge.
Board make "momentous" announcement
Chelsea have made a promise to be "pioneers in fan engagement" after setting up a new advisory board for supporters. The Blues have followed through with their pledge to create a Fan Advisory Board and are inviting applications for those who want to fill the six places.

Thiago Silva has claimed it's a "joke" that Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez was voted the seventh-best player in 2022 at the recent FIFA Best awards. The Brazilian centre-back, 38, latched onto criticism of where the 23-year-old Argentina international was ranked, despite his influential role during the Albiceleste's World Cup triumph.
Having shone for River Plate in the first half of 2022, Alvarez finished above the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Neymar, Vinicius Junior, Robert Lewandowski, Jude Bellingham and Mohamed Salah. Silva wasn't impressed, agreeing with a furious Instagram user who tore apart the rankings.

Blues ridiculed by Arsenal icon
Arsenal hero Paul Merson has become the latest pundit to ridicule Graham Potter's side, claiming that he could've played for Chelsea during their defeat on Sunday - even aged 54. After beIN Sports presenter Richard Keys slammed Potter and co, Merson has become the latest to join the pile-on against the Blues.
"They never looked like scoring at Spurs," the ex-Gunners midfielder wrote in his Sky Sports column. I could have played for Chelsea on Sunday when they had the ball because it was so slow - and I'm 54! I can't run around anymore but I can pass the ball and I could have played in the team. It was slow, sideways, backwards, I can play like that at my age."
