Andrew Tate admits he looks "unrecognisable" after spending two months in prison

Andrew Tate has admitted he looks almost "unrecognisable" after spending two months in detention in Romania.

Tate and his brother Tristan have been held since December after Romanian officials descended on to a property linked with the brothers and seized assets worth an estimated $3.9million. Officials are investigating allegations of organised crime and human trafficking with the brothers losing their most recent appeal against their detention.

The former kickboxing champion will spend another 30-day spell incarcerated, with the decision upheld while officials continue their inquiries. And as his spell in jail continues, Tate has posted on Twitter : "I saw my reflection today and I barely recognised myself.

"A long beard, a full head of hair and the stresses of battle show on my face. But then I looked into my eyes. And recognised myself completely. They cannot break me."

Tate has been looking extremely dishevelled when making appearances in court, with a new bushy beard and a fuller head of hair. The social media star rose to fame on a number of different platforms which saw him build a total following in excess of 10million followers.

However he was banned from all of the platforms including Twitter which were largely down to his misogynistic views, including the suggestion that women "bear responsibility" for sexual assault. However Tate has since regained hold of his Twitter account since Elon Musk took over the site, and has rebuilt an army of 5.2million on his profile.

During his time in jail, Tate has protested his innocence and alleged that the Romanian officials are part of a "political conspiracy" designed to silence him and prevent him from spreading his views. The 36-year-old was previously known for an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, in addition to being a world champion kickboxer.

Prior to his arrest, Tate was looking to revive his career in combat sports and had returned to training as he intended to pursue some potential fights in the boxing ring. Some of his potential named opponents including the likes of YouTube stars KSI, Jake Paul and his brother Logan.

Tate faced off with Paul at his gym in Puerto Rico as the pair teased a fight but this now is entirely off the cards unless he is released from prison. Paul lost to Tommy Fury at the weekend in Saudi Arabia, and the British born star elected to send a supportive message to the 'Problem Child' on social media.

He tweeted: "Always winning isn’t the point of God’s battles, the point of God’s battles is so you can show him the strength of your heart when you lose, Jake Paul."
