Kim Kardashian 'will have made royals laugh' buying Princess Diana's necklace
Kim Kardashian splashed the cash on a necklace famously worn by Princess Diana, with the Royal Family "probably laughing" at the extravagant purchase.
Kim, 42, had to part with more than £163,000 earlier this month to secure the precious item, which was worn by the then Princess of Wales in 1987.
The necklace, which went on auction at Sotheby's London, was created by jewellery designer Garrard in the 1920s and features an amethyst cross with circular-cut diamonds.
Kim seemed desperate to own the jewellery and paid more than double the pre-auction estimate to make sure she got her hands on it.
Royal expert Valentine Low has suggested the purchase would have left the Royal Family mildly amused.

"They certainly wouldn’t be annoyed, I don’t think," he told US Weekly.
After the tense auction, Head of Jewellery Kristian Spofforth said Sotheby's had been "delighted" that Kim bought the iconic necklace.
Taking to Instagram, he said: "Delighted that this wonderful cross worn by Princess Diana is now in the hands of another global icon-Kim Kardashian.
"Some last minute bidding made this a highlight of our Royal and Noble sale."

The cross is in the region of 5.25 carats (PA)The necklace first came to be in the public eye when Diana was pictured wearing it at a special London charity gala in support of Birthright, a charity which works towards the protection of human rights during pregnancy and childbirth.
The total diamond weight of the cross is in the region of 5.25 carats.
It was one of a number of Garrard pieces worn by the late princess throughout her life.
In Princess Diana's last public appearance, the jewellery house made the famous Swan Lake necklace in collaboration with her.
Of course, the item isn't the only iconic piece Kim has had her eye on.

At last year's Met Gala she loaned Marilyn Monroe's famous nude-coloured dress from Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
She admitted she had to shed 16 pounds to fit into the outfit as she took to the red carpet.
She's also treated daughter North West to the velvet jacket once worn by Michael Jackson during an outing with Elizabeth Taylor.
