Deontay Wilder repeats Tyson Fury cheating claim ahead of Oleksandr Usyk fight

Deontay Wilder remains convinced Tyson Fury cheated during their heavyweight trilogy fight.

Wilder has consistently made a number of baseless claims that Fury cheated in their second fight for the world heavyweight title, when he stopped the American in the seventh round. He appears to believe that Fury tampered with his gloves prior to the bout, having also claimed that his water was spiked, his coach threw in the towel early and that his walkout outfit was too heavy.

And despite seeming to have made peace with his loss to Fury after the Brit viciously knocked him out in their 2021 trilogy bout, Wilder reiterated his cheating claim against his old rival again. During an interview with ESNews, the former champion appeared to suggest Fury could do so ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

"I don't know, that's on the fence," he said when asked who would win the undisputed title bout. "That's a 50-50 fight for me too, you just never know until you get in there."

During the video on YouTube, host Elie Seckbach jokes that an 'unnamed fighter' had failed a drug test, possibly referencing Fury's 2015 test which found traces of nandrolone in his system. He also referenced a 2015 bout between Fury and Christian Hammer when his left glove had to be replaced after the join between the thumb part and the rest of the glove was broken.

Wilder doesn't agree or disagree with Seckbach's point, but adds that "somebody got gloves that ain't approved by a sanctioning body. Because it's their gloves it's okay. Somebody had referees over-count." His coach Malik Scott laughs along and adds "the list goes on".

It had seemed that the feud between Wilder and Fury was settled when the American took to Instagram after their fight and congratulated the Brit on his victory. He thanked him for the "historical moments that will last forever" that they shared in the ring together.

Both men appear to be interested in having a fourth fight should Wilder defeat Andy Ruiz Jr in a final eliminator for the WBC belt, which they have fought for three times already. They drew in 2018, although many felt that Fury had done enough to win after rising from the canvas twice, before the Brit dominated him in a 2020 rematch and viciously stopped him in their trilogy.

Fury has consistently denied he cheated against Wilder.
