Police launch arson investigation after fire at derelict Dumfries building

Police have said a fire at a derelict building near an old hospital site in Dumfries is being treated as deliberate.

Emergency services were called out to the property at Nithbank at about 17:40 on Monday.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and there were no reports of any injuries.

"The fire is being treated as wilful and inquiries are ongoing," said a police statement.

SFRS said it had sent three appliances to the scene to tackle the incident.

It confirmed that nobody had been hurt and said its crews had left the scene just after 21:00.
