A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police were called to a home in St Leonards - where a 66-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were found dead.

Police have launched a murder probe after a man and woman were found dead at a property in a quiet seaside town.

A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, Sussex Police have said.

Officers were called to the home on Seven Acre Close, St Leonards, shortly after 4.30am on Tuesday to reports that a man and a woman had been injured. On arrival, the bodies of a 66-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were discovered.

Sussex Police have urged any members of the public with information that may assist their investigation, including CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage, to get in touch.

Locals have also been warned to expect an increased police presence in the area while the investigation continues.

"Police have arrested a man on suspicion of two murders in St Leonards on Tuesday (30 June)," the force said in a statement.

"We have arrested a 58-year-old man on suspicion of the murder of a man and a woman, and he remains in custody at this time.

"This is a fast-moving investigation as we seek to understand the wider circumstances of what happened. It has been established that the suspect and victims were known to each other and we are not looking for anyone else at this stage in connection with this.

"There will be an increased police presence in the area while we complete enquiries.
