A woman has allegedly been sexually assaulted on a train in London when a man "grabbed onto her" and "refused to let her go".

The victim was on the platform at Canary Wharf when she was approached by a man. The individual then began to sexually harass her and boarded the train as she did, British Transport Police (BTP) said.

He sat down next to the woman and, as she tried to move away, he grabbed onto her and sexually assaulted her, officers said. BTP added that the individual refused to let go of his victim.

The attack reportedly only stopped when two other passengers intervened. The suspect then eventually got off the train at King George V station following the incident on May 29.

BTP have now released a picture of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident. The image shows a man with short black hair and facial hair, wearing a white T-shirt and what appears to be a black cross-body bag.

A statement from BTP reads: "Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a DLR train have released this image in connection At around 10.30pm on Friday 29 May, a woman was on the platform at Canary Wharf when a man approached and began to sexually harass her.

"He then boarded the train and sat next to her, and as she tried to move away he grabbed onto her and sexually assaulted her, refusing to let her go. The man only stopped when two other passengers came over to help, and he eventually got off the train at King George V station.

"Detectives would like to speak to the man pictured, as they believed he may have information that could help their investigation." Anyone who recognises the man in the picture is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 153 of June 2.
