UK construction firm collapses after workers miss out on £153,000 in pay
A UK construction company has plunged into liquidation after 15 years as staff missed out on over £150,000 worth of pay.
Charles Contract Services Ltd is based in Solihull in West Midlands, and focuses on commercial buildings.
The company was incorporated on January 6, 2010 according to Companies House. It originally ran under the name Charles CANN Ltd and then Charles CAAN Ltd.
Liquidators were appointed by members on June 16, 2026, as per The Gazette. Tauseef Rashid of Qimzen Advisory, Birmingham has been appointed liquidator.
Mr Stephen Michael Williams is listed as the director of the company, appointed in 2019.
According to LinkedIn, the business has between 1,000 to 1,500 employees.
In March 2026, the company was handed a penalty for failing to pay £153,240.67 to 177 workers, according to the Solihull Advisor.
The collapse of the company comes in a string of businesses in the sector facing financial difficulties.
