Machete-wielding thugs spark violent brawl in Barcelona holiday hotspot

This is the shocking moment a violent brawl broke out in a Brit holiday hotspot where machete-wielding thugs hurled chairs.

The brutal scuffle engulfed Barcelona‘s Raval neighbourhood, where an estimated 30 people became embroiled in the chaos.

Terrifying footage of the shocking fight was captured as the large group sprawled out onto Rambla del Raval.

Multiple men were seen throwing chairs and other items at each other.

The brawlers darted around pedestrians and parked cars as terrified onlookers fled for shelter.

Picking up stones from the ground as well, some of the men were seen carrying large bladed machetes.

The horrifying ordeal continued to spread up the popular street, in the second violent incident reported in just the last week.

Witnesses reported the ongoing fight to emergency services, where dozens of people were exchanging punches and throwing the terrace chairs.

The men were also heard threatening each other with weapons.

According to local media, Sunday’s brawl was sparked by an earlier argument between some of the men and a restaurant owner.

The catalyst for the fight remains unknown.

El Caso reported the brawl had been between a group of Algerian nationals and the owner of the Pakistani eatery Awami.

After a heated verbal dispute, the individuals left the diner.

They later returned wielding machetes and sticks alongside several other men as backup.

The brutal confrontation then kicked off in the middle of the popular street.

Several officers from the Barcelona City Police (Guardia Urbana) attended the scene, where they split up the two groups and secured the area.

After the brutal brawl was brought under control, the restaurant’s manager was interviewed.

Four people were arrested at the scene after damage was caused to surrounding property.

The investigation into the violent outburst remains ongoing.

Just days earlier, a tourist was also mugged in the nearby area.

The thief was chased down Carrer d’En Robador before being surrounded by an angry mob and bashed by his victim.

Another altercation unfolded in broad daylight on Carrer de la Cera in May, when a young man was left with a stab wound to his arm.

Local residents of Raval – and the Ciutat Vella district – had expressed their frustration over the continued episodes of violence, leaving them living in fear and insecurity every day.
