Woman spots 'late husband dining in Indian restaurant 9 years after death'

A woman has left social media users baffled after she claimed to have spotted her late husband in a new promotional video for a local Indian restaurant - despite him passing away nine years ago.

Spice Cottage, a restaurant in the village of Westbourne, West Sussex, posted a video to its Facebook page last week which showed tables packed with diners enjoying their favourite dishes.

But in the comments of the video, one flabbergasted woman asked when the footage was filmed because she claimed to have spotted her late husband and his son among the diners, even though he died in 2014.

The video was posted to the Spice Cottage Facebook page on January 16, alongside the caption: "New year, new mood! For the last few weeks, we've been working hard to make our dining experience even more memorable.

"Join us for a perfect blend of exquisite flavours, with classical and unique dishes inspired by ancient family recipes."

And in the comments, a woman named Lucy Watson asked: "How old is the footage? My late husband and his son are on the first shot and he died in 2014??"

While it wouldn't be impossible for the restaurant to have used old footage for their promotional video, the owners of the establishment insisted the video had been filmed earlier in the month, and wasn't nine years old.

Replying to Lucy, they wrote: "Hi Lucy Watson, sorry to hear this. This footage was recorded last week."

As of the time of writing, the woman has not responded to the Facebook post with any further information, but her original comment has left social media users baffled - with many desperate for an update.

One person wrote: "I need to know what's going on, ASAP."

While another said: "We need closure on this!"

And a third posted: "Can we have an update? I'm invested now."

Some commenters also began exchanging theories, with some suggesting the whole ordeal could have been a stroke of "marketing genius" on the restaurant's behalf, as the baffling post made them go viral.

One claimed the woman's account was "fake", while another said it was "free promo" for the restaurant.

Lucy and Spice Cottage have been contacted for comment.
